USB cables have become an indispensable requirement of all high end hifi audio systems. When bringing home a set of brand new hifi device, a set of exotic cables come packed within the box. These niche products have become an essential and mandatory part of your hifi audio system rather than an optional addition. Gone are those days when music was recorded and stored in vinyl records, CDs and DVDs. While vinyl records have become almost extinct these days, CDs and DVDs are also losing their hold over the audio sector. This use of conventional music storage devices were further diminished with the advent of technologically upgraded devices like iPods, smartphones, USB music players, etc. You will hardly find an audiophile who doesn’t possess one of these appliances.

However, how upgraded and latest these equipment are, they will not deliver the same sound when heard via headphones. For getting the real beat and the true acoustic performance of these devices, you need to connect these devices to output devices such as amplifiers, DACs and loudspeakers. Here is where USB cables come in spotlight. USB means Universal Serial Bus. Technically speaking, it is a hardware interface used to connect peripheral devices like computer mouse, keyboards, printers, digital cameras, scanners, PDAs and MP3 players to PC and laptops. These days, USB connectors are used to connect many other appliances and gadgets. Today, every hifi device in the market come with USB ports for easy connections with accessories.

Design

Next to type of speakers, the imperative factor to choose a pair of speakers is its design. High end hifi speakers usually come in three basic designs: reflex, acoustic suspension and transmission line. Reflex loudspeaker designs have ports or holes in them, either at the front or the back of the cabinet. Acoustic suspension speakers, on the other hand, lack any ports and are completely sealed from all sides. Transmission line speaker designs have long ducts inside the speaker cabinet that terminate in a port, usually at the front or at the back. Each of the design types have their own advantages and disadvantages. It would be very judgmental to say which one would be better and which one produces more powerful sound. Each speaker design type adopts a different design principle, and with proper settings, each one of the design type can deliver the best sonic performance.

Finish

Another thing in high end hifi speakers that fancy you is their finish. Speaker cabinets these days come in a variety of finishes and tempting colors. Some cabinets are made up of pure wood veneer whereas some others are made up of polycarbonate material. Which one you want to choose highly depends on your personal taste. Wood veneer is attractive and can be treated easily in case of any damage. On the other hand, high gloss black has a very classy look, but if the finish is damaged, it is hard to repair. Whatever finish material you choose, you should essentially look for seven essential elements in the speaker. The speaker should be stiff, damped, high resonance, attractive, machinable, cheap and light. The speaker type comprising all these elements is a durable one that can deliver supersonic performance for long years.

A bed frame, generally, comprises the entire bed’s structure. The headboard, the footboard, the slats and the mattress, all are essential components of a bed’s frame. Collectively all these parts contribute to the comfort level of the bed. While choosing for a bed frame, you should essentially look for certain things so that after you purchase the bed, it meets your requirements and suits your physical comfort. Finding an apt frame that suits your needs and fit your existing furniture pieces in the bedroom can be difficult if you don’t know what things to consider when buying a bed. Many types of modern beds are available these days in the market, and each one of them come with exclusive designs that are tempting enough to attract you. However, apart from design, modern beds do feature utmost comfort and offer a real sleeping pleasure. Even though, modern bed frames come with all essential features that offer you luxurious comfort, there are certain basic things you should look for in a modern bed frame before bringing it home.

Material of the Frame

Mostly, all bed frames are made of either wood or metal. Many people prefer wooden frames over metal frames as they consider wooden frames to be more sturdy. However, either one is suitable. In some cases, a wooden frame will look pleasant with a high wood headboard, and in some other cases metal look better with metal headboard. You can also opt for metal frames, as they too are reliable and durable enough. Metal beds are comparatively lighter than wooden beds and last longer. Whichever material you choose, it is important that the headboard and footboard properly attach to the frame. If there is even a slight height variation, there are chances that the headboard and footboard will not adjust to the frame.

Size of Mattress

Size of your mattress is another imperative consideration. When buying a frame, keep in mind that it should fit your existing mattress. For this, you need to take accurate measurements and consult your local furniture retailer for the same. Some bed frames are adjustable to fit different sizes of mattresses, but some others need an exact fitting mattress. If you are buying a bigger sized bed this time, consider getting a new mattress too. You can even ask the furniture retailer to get you a exact fitting mattress for the bed. This can help reduce your hassle to some extent.

Storage Space

In addition to material of the frame and size of mattress, it is also essential to ensure whether the bed frame offers you enough storage space inside. Most modern beds these days come with huge space under the bed for storage purpose. However, many modern beds often lack this feature. Having a decent storage space beneath helps stuff your bedding accessories and helps keep your room clutter free. When choosing a bed frame, see to it that the bed accommodates storage boxes beneath the slats. You can also consider buying a platform storage bed. Modern storage beds are preferred over traditional beds as storage beds have box-type frames that include drawers.

Because conformity, like greed and corruption, is a disease and I can't allow it to affect me.

The post Why I Am Not Okay with The Status Quo appeared first on Bogus Blogging.

If you’re okay with things around, you’re probably normal and a part of the mainstream population that have apparently grown up learning conformity as the best policy.

I’m not different because I see the exact same problems that you see; I’m different because I feel disturbed and revolted by the problems rather than just accept them move on.

I went to the police station deciding not to pay them any bribes, and came out feeling ostracised. My mom was concerned about my behaviour because I was NOT acting normal. “Policemen are criminals and gundas; they won’t let you rest in peace if you’re going to challenge them for what they have been doing since eternity”, she said.

Perhaps, it would have been ‘okay’ if I had just entered the police station, and surreptitiously handed over a 100 rupee note with a smile.

Our society is an awful parent – it teaches you how to take the shit lying down, instead of fighting against it. It teaches you how to comply with the status quo rather than challenge it. Perhaps, that’s why we are okay with the mediocre governance chosen by a mediocre voting population.

We have been conditioned to ‘being okay’ with things since our childhood rather than question and rebel against them when they seem unjust and unfair. We have been conditioned to jump to the conclusions and follow the herd rather than deconstruct things on their merit and allow the truth to prevail. We have been conditioned to react to situations emotionally too quickly and then allow them to pale into insignificance and oblivion afterwards. We have been conditioned to accept situations, give up on them without a fight and move on. We are not educated enough to form our own informed and unbiased opinions; we’d rather allow ourselves to be imprisoned by the vested interested, venal media and our very own age-old biases. We have allowed emotions to run amok , crushing the reason to death under their feet.

It’s utterly disgusting so see so many of us being okay with the status quo rather than having the urge to challenge it. There are too many things that we are okay with.

Did You Know: it’s ‘okay’ to…

Demanding castrations and death penalties are the easiest ways to appear moralistic while letting the system sustain its sexist character. Focusing on gender wars and demonizing all men as beasts and all men as potential rapists is highly regressive and counterproductive. Asking that men give up their privileges is akin to asking capitalists to give up their wealth. This is utopian at its best, and reactionary, at its worst. What’s important is not to ask men for mercy or police for protection, but to form alliance with every revolutionary formations to overthrow the last vestiges of feudalism – the patterns of caste violence, the licenses to rape women in the name of religious sanctions, the sacrosanct marriages – and to organize a communistic future that will no longer depend on legal interventions from the capitalistic judiciary.

Yes, being a man and having lived in one of the small towns of our state, I have remained an observer of the India’s patriarchal society since my childhood. I have seen my mom and sisters being made to sacrifice their cherished wishes at the behest of the family heads. Gender disparity has largely remained the hallmark of our society, be it an illiterate girl in a village or a self-made woman in a metrocity. The male ego has to perpetuate and take precedence over the female’s interests. This is a truth and an age-old story in every household across our country. This blog on TOI shares the same perspective I have about the first step towards stopping rape from being a household affair in every Indian family.

A lot of how India will be in the future, how one half of the population will treat the other half, will depend on the lessons from parents and teachers. GPS and CCTVs, after all, cannot track what goes inside homes and the minds of men; they can only make our streets a bit safer. The violence to women within families is many times deadlier.

While there has been an emotional outrage about how the rapist should be hanged till death, I seriously think every responsible selfcentric male in our society with a penchant to look down upon his female counterpart must hang his ego till death to start with, if they are trulely serious about allowing any positive change to usher in. What do you think?

More often than not, people tend to invariably relate the concept of start-ups with product development, and I don’t understand why.

I think a start-up can be anything you invest yourself into, which could be your own money, time and everything in between. Again, start-ups could mean different things depending on the socio-economic scenario. Here in India itself, start-ups could, for ex, face different challenges in different cities.

To answer the question, start-up is like your very own kid – because you conceive the idea before it’s born into reality, toil hard to raise it to be an adult and then set it adrift when it grows into a bigger entity.

<script type="text/javascript"

It’s not easy being the founder of a start-up just as it is not easy being the mother of a tender child that needs constant attention, relentless love, selflessness and sacrifice. Embracing motherhood is a choice, so is founding a start-up.

You sure lose your sleep over your baby or wake up in the middle of the night to attend to it. That’s what mothers around the world do as well. It’s a painful journey and but has its very own exhilarating moments. Just like a mother, you feel the emotional fulfilment and divine joy when your baby is born, smile, take the first step or just start crawling on the ground.

Your start-up is always close to your heart despite how the world around you perceives it. You toil to help it grow, out of sheer love and affection. You can run through the fire to help it push forward to where it belongs. Ask any founder, and they would put their inherent satisfaction much above the money which comes with it incidentally.

It’s difficult to describe in words what it’s like to be a start-up founder. One has to carry the mantle to know what it takes. It’s a very personal experience.

When I was young, I’d look at the ads on magazines and draw my inspirations from them. The magazines like India Today and Outlook would carry ads of Raymond and Allen Solly which would mesmerize me. I’d always dream of leading a lifestyle that would enable me to wear sophisticated clothing. Thinking of those conjures up just one image in my mind – Friday Dressing from Allen Solly. It’s been close to 20 years now, and I still have those magazines tucked away in my shelves. Whenever I visit my hometown and stay for a longer period of time, I tend to revisit my memories of the yesterday, looking at those old magazines.

Today, I can afford all those I’d dreamed of. In fact, I’ve done that already but looking back it seems like I was living a myth back then.

So why do I think I was living a myth back then?

It’s because I’m starting to realize the truth of life.

No matter how far you travel, you can’t escape the truth of life. No matter how much you make, you can’t defeat the deepest fears of your life. Every time I fly, I feel I carry the weight of my fears even more. Death is the only way to escape the mundane meaninglessness of life. The meaninglessness of life is the biggest burden. Sometimes, you can’t appreciate the purpose of life. It seems like an eternal struggle until the death beckons you. If you look at the vagaries of life, death lulls you to a divine serenity. It’s only on your deathbed where you realize the meaninglessness of life and that you have been a fool all your life. The sad truth of life is you become the wisest only when you realize the wisdom is worth nothing because you’re just breathing your last, desperately wishing not to, when the tears in your eyes blur the images of the ones surrounding you. You want to tell them life is short and not to let a moment go by worrying about the false pursuit of materialism.

Make no mistake – when you’re about to breathe your last, the last thing you’re possessive about are your belongings. It is the beautiful moments which you’ve cherished that make it hard for your soul to depart your body.
